We Listen, We Care, & We Get Results

About Santa Cruz Spine & Sport

At Santa Cruz Spine and Sport we are a like-minded group of Chiropractors and Massage Therapists who come together to help you move well so you can feel well. We do this through correcting dysfunctional movement patterns and releasing restrictions in the fascia, muscles, tendons, and joints capsules. By teaching proper movement patterns and engaging the proper muscle groups, patients find that their pain decreases and they are able to go back to the activities they love. We listen, we care, and we get results.

Announcement: WE added a Brand New Focal Shockwave to our practice

🤕 If pain or mobility issues are stopping you from reaching your goals, sleeping through the night, or living life to the fullest… Chattanooga® Focal Shock Wave Therapy may be a good treatment option for you.

  • Shoulder pain

  • Chronic back pain

  • Tennis elbow or other elbow pain

  • Runner’s knees or other knee pain

  • Wrist pain

  • Hip pain

📢 By using targeted soundwaves, this device can help to relieve pain and increase blood flow to targeted areas in the body. This helps trigger the body’s natural mechanisms involved in repairing tissue.

Radial Pressure Wave therapy can help you find pain relief and could help you avoid surgery, injections, or medications.

The 3 R’s - Reset, Reload, Retrain the Therapeutic philosophy of Santa Cruz Spine and Sport

We follow the Reset and Reload principle. 1st we reset the body part that we are working with. This can be with mobilization and adjustments, or it can be with a mobility balls, foam rollers, fascial scraping tools. There are a multitude of ways of resetting the body. By resetting the muscles and joint complex we have primed and activated those areas, and now they are prepared for the reload phase. Think of the reloading phase as sending electricity through the system. As we do this we move slowly and listen to the body building up the signal. We are looking for the threshold of where there is either pain or a breakdown in the movement pattern. As we do this we are sending signals of growth and adaptations.

Our Approach

Our Chiropractic Approach

Generally patients have three similar goals: 1) to understand what is causing their pain, 2) to receive skilled treatment to help alleviate the pain, and 3) to learn what they can do to keep the pain from coming back. Dr. Justin McLeod DC, Dr. Jorge Rosado, Dr. Kelly Schweitzer DC share the same goals: We strive to provide the best treatments, so that you can enjoy a happy and active life pain-free.

During the first initial treatments, we will do a evaluation of muscular imbalances. We start by looking at posture, observing muscles for characteristic signs of tightness (hypertonicity) or overstretched and inhibited (hypotonicity), helping us determine the cause of pain. We then perform a function movement screen (FMS or SFMA) further assessing proper motion. If restriction are found then we will discover if the cause is from muscular tension, fascial tightness, joint restrictions, and/or improper neurologic movement pattern. Based off the tests we will know the appropriate adjustments, muscle work, and exercises to address the problems.

Our Massage Approach

Our bodies are like buckets and everyday we are pouring stress into it. From the physical, emotional, and environmental stresses we have a tendency to hold that tension in. A great way to relieve that anxiety is to get weekly or monthly massages before the stress turns into a constant pain.
